Subsidies differ in their targets and mechanisms according to their respective purposes. IT Implementation Subsidy
The IT Implementation Subsidy is a subsidy established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, targeting small and medium-sized enterprises and small business operators. It is a system to support operational efficiency and sales improvement by subsidizing part of the expenses for business operators to introduce IT tools that meet their company's needs.
The 2022 IT Implementation Subsidy has two types: the regular framework (Type A • B) and the digitalization infrastructure implementation framework. The conventional regular framework subsidizes up to half of software purchase costs, cloud usage fees (for one year), and implementation-related costs. The subsidy limit varies by type.
The other digitalization infrastructure implementation framework was newly established in 2022. By subsidizing part of the software purchase expenses for accounting • ordering • payment • EC, it aims to strongly promote the digitalization of inter-company transactions while anticipating compliance with the invoice system. Another point is that hardware such as PCs, tablets, registers, and ticket machines have been added to the subsidy targets. Subsidy rates and limits are set for each content type.
In 2022, a framework called " Multi-Company Collaboration IT Implementation Type " was also added. This supports initiatives where multiple small and medium-sized enterprises and small business operators collaborate to introduce IT tools and hardware, and coordination costs for effective collaboration and honorariums for external experts are also eligible for subsidies.
Various Subsidies by Local Governments
Subsidies for IT and IoT implementation are established not only by the national government but also by local governments such as prefectures and municipalities. Since support is designed to meet regional needs, it is advisable to research the subsidy programs of the relevant local government.
For example, Kumamoto Prefecture's IoT Implementation Plan Formulation Subsidy covers expenses for consulting with or commissioning experts and IT vendor companies. It can be said to be a subsidy that supports the first step when introducing digital technologies such as IoT.
